Nusa Penida is an Island in the Southeast of Bali. The Bandung Strait separates Nusa Penida and Bali. This place is one of the dream destination of many because of a scenic view this place offers.
There are two major destination in this island and they are the East and West tour.
East Nusa Penida tour consist of :
The famous Tree House
West Nusa Penida tour consist of :
The Kelingking Beach
In our case since we have a very limited time we opted to visit the West Nusa Penida Tour.
December 28,2018 at 6:15am the driver and tour guide picked us up in our Hostel Green Papaya House which is located in Sukawati, Gianyar to the Sanur Port where the jump off point to Nusa Penida is located. We arrived around 7.00-7:15am and we just waited to the other guest.
Unfortunately the guest we are waiting didn’t showed up. So about 8.30am we started going to the ferry that will send ur to the island. Its a bit crowded in the ferry ut we managed to get a good seating area. After 30 mins or so we arrived to the port and the designated tour guide/driver picked us up to start the tour.
It would be better to wear something comfortable or slippers going to the port as u will walk in the water especially if its a bit high tide. Short, and slippers is a must. But when you arrived the Island you don’t have to walk in the water as they have this pathway where guest can walk.
Just right after meeting the driver, we proceed to the car that we will use to explore the island.
I can say that the road in Nusa Penida is not really developed, so be ready for a very bumpy ride, would be better if you are not full or else you might throw up or vomit or feel stomach discomfort. Would be better for those who are not used to travel bumpy to take something for Dizziness or like motion sickness Medicine.
About an hour of bumpy ride we arrived in the first destination.
The Angels Billabong. It is a nice rock formation with cliff edges. This Rock pool is one of the must see in Nusa Penida. Unfortunately we expected that we will see just exactly the same as what we see on the internet but to my dismay its not. Well the rock formation is good, its just that the water is not as blue as the sky and not as clean as i expected. But i understand that it was raining the night before we arrived so the water is a bit muddy and not clear. That’s ok though. We still happy to see this Rock Formation in our own eyes. Lesson learned. Dont expect too much!
Next Destination is just 2 mins away from the Angels Billabong . It was the Spectacular Broken Beach. It was Scenic coastal formation on the southwestern side of Nusa Penida. It was a picturesque destination with an arched tunnel allowing the ocean to flow into a superb pool. Facing the Indian Ocean. is a great spot for photographer and nature lover though its not allowed for swimming. Since Broken Beach is one of the major tourist spot in Nusa Penida Its better to visit the island as early as 6-7am to avoid crowd and to take a good photo and enjoy this majestic view.
Next destination we headed to is the most famous among all. The Kelingking Beach. It was famous because of its Tyrannosaurus Rex resemblance coz of its shape and not to mention the majestic view this places offers which made this as the most favorite place in Nusa Penida island. It was a hidden beach in the south western coast where you an enjoy the breathtaking view over hills and small strip of white sand beach below. This features a limestone headland covered with green lush and surrounded with dark blue waters of Indian Ocean. You can enjoy taking photos and selfies and you can even walk down the this hill and enjoy the beach. A bit steep road to go down which will take about an hour and half going down and hour and half going up too.Swimming is allowed but depends on the weather and have to be mindful as the current in this beach is quite strong. So have to take care as no life guards around the beach to look after you. This place s our favorite among all. But as i said it would be much better if you will visit the island earlier in the morning as people starts to jam packed around noon time or after lunch.
Around 12:30 pm we drove to the restaurant for the plated lunch included in the package. We went to this restaurant named Sebuluh Resto bar. So we are allowed 1 order of anything that’s in the menu and one drinks. We ordered:
Nasi Campur plus Watermelon Smoothie
Ayam Kremes plus Watermelon Smoothie
Ayam Lada Hitam plus Mango Smoothie
Ayam Rica Rica plus Honey Dew Smoothie
Ayam Penyet Plus Honey Dew Smoothie
All these foods taste great and we enjoyed. The only problem we encountered is that they served quite long time but understandable as its peak hours for lunch.
This day trip includes visit in the Crystal Bay. It is known as the hidden beach and dive spot in Bali. This beach is accessible as the road going here is more developed unlike the other 3 destinations we visited. This place is know to be one of the best snorkelling sites and dive site for its very good visibility and calm waves. But unfortunately we opted not to visit this place as we are in limited time and we are running kinda late for the 2:00pm ferry ride back to the mainland.
About 1:45pm, we arrived to the port and we settled ourselves going back to mainland. There are 2 time options of ferry going back to Sanur at 2:00pm and B.5:00pm. We opted 2:00pm ferry as we wanted to relax and enjoy the pur resort in Gianyar.
Going back to the port, we experienced some stop over in the middle of the sea, we don’t have idea why but some people panicked but we remained calm. The weather is not that good that’s the time where there’s some tsunami occurrence in some indonesian territory. But since we checked the weather and made sure that its safe in bali we did this tour. Thank God we arrived safe! Despite of huge waves and bad weather. We made it. Prayer works a lot!
This Day Tour trip cost 850K IDR including the pick up and drop off to hotel.Free Xplore Nusa Penida T Shirt. PLated lunch from Sebuluh Resto. Back and fourth Transportation in the island, and Back and fourth Ferry ride.
The Nusa Penida Day Tour is a must to visit and definitely one of the best and highlights in Bali. If you don’t have much time day tour is fine but i suggest that if you wanted to truly appreciate this hidden gem, spend a night or two in this island. You will never regret and you will have a great time wandering this beauty of Bali has to offer! Such a wonderful and Amazing experience!

Day 3 Bedugul Tour
After a tiring Island Trip yesterday ( Nusa Penida Island Day Tour). We are now ready for the next scheduled trip for this day, Bedugul Tour. This trip will consist the visit to:
Ulun Danu Temple,Bedugul Botanical Garden, Twin Lake Wanagiri,Handara Gate and Tanah Lot Temple.
We woke up 7:00 am to have our breakfast before our tour starts at 8:00am. Exactly 8am our Guide / Driver arrived and we are all ready to start this fun filled day.
About 45 minutes we arrived to the Twin Lake Wanagiri Hill.It is located in the highlands of Wanagiri and Munduk Village, Sukasada District Buleleng Regency Bali, Indonesia. This majestic view of Lake Buyan and Lake Tambingan has been a popular spot and must to see in Bali as this places offers a very nice ambiance and relaxation to the eyes of every wanderer. Those who loves taking selfies and photos will surely fell in love with this place. We surely does.
They have 100K IDR for the entrance fee,a bit expensive but that’s ok as we wanted to experience and see the stunning view of the lake and take photos around the area with different design. We spent around an hour in taking photos and enjoying the view and also we loved the weather in this place as its quite high so its cold in there. Unfortunately the weather that day is gloomy and cloudy so a bit dark in taking photos and more of clouds. But thats really no problem , we still enjoyed the place.
Next stop, A really quick stop is the famous Handara Gate which is located at the Handara Golf Course and Resort in Bedugul, Bali. This gate is easy to find as its fronting the mainroad.
We payed 30K IDR for a limit of 10 minutes of taking selfies and photos. When we arrived there are couple of people waiting for their turn and they really did it fast as its written in the “selfie ticket” maximum 10 minutes only! hahah for just a gate photo you need to pay an amount and with time. Well this place is famous so i guess they just maximize the place to earn some.Very good view and instagramable place though. We had fun.
Not so far from the Handara Gate, we arrived in the second destination. Ulun Danu Temple. This Temple is one of the significant temple in bali at the same time one of the must to see spot. It is located in Lake Beratan in central Bali, Tabanan Regency. This places says to be the most iconic sanctuary as it shows like the combination of Tanah Lot and Uluwatu Temple. This places got a very nice colorful garden and also have playground for kids. They also have an inhouse buffet restaurant for the guest too. We arrived early morning but i can say that there’s a lot of visitors that day as in lots, so haven’t really got a good photo near the temple as its too crowded. haven’t even got a solo photo too. If you are ok with that then theres no problem but if you want a good less crowd photo try to go here early in the morning. As far as i remember they are open as early as 8:00 in the morning.
After around 45 minutes of enjoying the Ulun Danu Temple, we headed to the Bedugul Botanical Garden which is just few kilometers from the Temple. Entrance fee is 30K IDR. This place is a place for botanical garden, research, studies and even recreational. Ideal for family and friends. Great for picnics, games, and some sport. Inside the garden you will see places such as botanical house, Balinese houses, tree collections, cactus, bamboo house and etc. The weather here is great as its cool and quite cold as its really surrounded with lots of different flowers and trees. We saw some Indonesian sculptures which is known widely and is part of their history.
Very relaxing, enjoying, worth the visit, and you can peace at one point just find a spot for your self and enjoy!
After our 4th stop we can feel our hungry tummy is wanting some food to eat. We asked for our driver to bring us to a nice place with local cuisine that is good for our budget. Guess what? Our entire full meal lunch just cost like Handara Gate’s entrance fee!!! Yes!! Our driver drove us to the place where we can have a local Balinese Cuisine. Babi Guling , which is roasted pig like what we have in the Philippines, and that’s their version of our Lechon.
The small eatery is just located in the roadside and we saw lots of locals were eating in that area. Our driver ordered food for us and wow we are surprised with the meal he ordered for us.
The meal consist of Rice, Veggies, and a chops of Babi Guling, a stick of satay, and pork soup.
All of this for 30K IDR. Yes!! 30K IDR only for this huge meal. if you wanted soft drinks or ice tea just add 5K IDR. We really had an amazing local lunch for a cheap price.
After an hour in the small eatery, we started to travel to the final destination. The Tanah Lot Temple.
The Tanah Lot Temple is a historical Hindu temple and iconic pilgrimage site built on a dramatic rock formation in the sea. Entrance fee to visit is place is 60K IDR This place is great if its low tide so u can see and enjoy the temple on the other side. When we visited, it was very windy and rained a bit , weather is not that good and cloudy and gloomy, we haven’t seen sunset too. But this place is great for taking photos because of the amazing rock formation and the waves. Lots of families are here for sightseeing and even do picnics, its nice to visit for couples too. Would be awesome to have an amazing weather, and less crowed so you can truly enjoy the place with peace and serenity.
Our last stop should be the Taman Ayum Temple and Waterfall Tegenungan. But since we have a limited time we opted to skip the 2 spots and we headed back to our hotel.
Such a wonderful day for all of us! Very productive and interesting!

Bali is an Indonesian Island known for its forested volcanic mountains, iconic rice paddies, beaches and coral reefs. The island is home to religious sites such as cliffside Uluwatu Temple. To the south, the beachside city of Kuta has lively bars, while Seminyak, Sanur and Nusa Dua are popular resort towns. The island is also known for its yoga and meditation retreats. One of the Tourist Spot and one of the must to visit if you wanted to experience a bit of luxury for a day. The Edge Uluwatu /One Eighty is perfect place to enjoy, relax and wander to the beauty of nature.
How to get to Bali
We came from Manila and we have to go to Ninoy Aquino Terminal 3 for Cebu Pacific Flight. Same as if you will fly by Air Asia. While Philippine Airlines passenger will have to go to the Ninoy Aquino Terminal 2. All of these Airlines have a several flights daily from Manila to Bali.
Getting Around Bali.
Bali is a nice place but its very rare to find a public transportation , so i recommend every guest to pre book a tour organizer to make your Bali Trip easier and hassle free. Upon entering the resort, there was service golf car like, to send the guest to the pool area.
The VIP area is just located at the left side of the resort which facing a majestic view of a mountain and sea. Amazing place to chill and relax indeed!.They informed us that we are allowed to stay from 12:00 noon till 5:00pm maximum. We agreed and we just relaxed in the designated area that’s very comfortable and very scenic and pleasing to the eye.
Since it was noon time and we haven’t eaten our lunch yet, we decided to check out the menu just in front of us.They have different choices from local cuisine to international dishes. We opted to choose mix of everything since we are 6 people we decided to order different menu so we can taste all we wanted to taste. 550K IDR per person for food and drink is consumable and we really consumed every single idr we payed for this stay. After 30 mins they started serving foods and we made sure that we satisfied our hungry tummy before we started dipping in the pool. The food was very good and we really enjoyed everything, we actually did not finished everything and we have to ask for them to take it home. Yeah they agreed to so we have some food for our dinner. That’s a good deal,
About 2:00 pm we started roaming around for taking photos and swimming. They have 3 pools. One is for kids and one is for adults about 5-ft deep and connected to the “edge pool” with the glass bottom which is the highlight of this place. And lastly the one near the hotel which i guess is for the check in guest only coz no one is swimming. But i don’t have an idea my son was swimming there for the entire time we stayed , no one asked him to moved out so we joined him and enjoy the pool. Maybe because there no much guest that time.
I personally tried to go to the edge which at first made me a bit worried as i feel like i’m going to fall as i can see the bottom which is cliff side and ocean. To tell you frankly my legs was shaking that time so i just closed my eyes and walk to the very edge of the pool.I just realized that i have this acrophobia. But eventually i managed and just enjoyed the pool and panoramic scenery this place offers.Such an Amazing Place to chill, unwind, dine in, relax and spend the day with family, friends, or even yourself.
We started Packing up around 4:30pm and that time no much guest anymore and its more quite now to relax and enjoy the pool as other guest started packing up too. But we have till 5pm only so we also started getting ready and advised our tour coordinator to pick us up. Such a great day! We really enjoyed spending our afternoon in this place. You don’t need to be rich to experience this luxurious place with VIP service. You deserve to have a little bit of treat to yourself for working hard. Life is too short enjoy while you can! Enjoy, wander and love life!

Where in Bali did we stayed? check this out….
Day 1 Arrival Morning
Upon our arrival to Bali, Indonesia. The designated tour guide/driver is already to pick us up.As booked through Mr. Ngurah Weda, the driver is on time and ready to give us a tour scheduled for the day.
Around 9:00 am we started our journey to the first destination.
We supposed to visit the Pandawa Beach, Padang Padang Beach, and Dreamland Beach but due to time restriction we opted to skip the Pandawa Beach. We headed directly to the Dreamland each.
Dreamland Beach is located on the Bukit Peninsula. Also tagged as one of the hidden beaches in Bali with wide stretch of white sand secluded by limestone cliffs. This beach is very popular for day trippers and surfers as the waves here is very good for surfing. the blue water is really amazing and you will appreciate it when the weather is good and sunny. you can see the beauty of the sand, the beach is almost perfect. You can rest some chairs for you to relax and put your belongings and to have a bit of shade under the sun or simply just bring your things with you and put it in the sand and wander around the beach, swim or surf.
Parental Guidance to the small kids is a must as the wave is huge and for their safety.
The entrance fee to the Dreamland Beach is 20K IDR per person. Upon arriving to the area, there’s a shuttle to the beach which you will you will be riding again back to the pick up and drop off point and its included to the entrance fee, its about 3 minutes ride to the beach area. there are some stores and grocery if you need to buy foods, drink or even clothes or souvenirs, and also toilets for changing.
After about 45 minutes of enjoying the view and taking photos we went back to the pickup station going back to our service car. We are now ready for the next destination. Padang Padang Beach.
After 30 minutes of driving we arrived at the Padang Padang beach. Padang padang beach is a beach located at the north western coast of Bukit Peninsula and its also know as Pantai Labuan Sait. This beach was also featured as a romantic setting in a hollywood movie ‘Eat Pray Love” played by JUlia Roberts back on 2010.
Going to the beach you have to access the stairs, just you need to take care as maybe to others it maybe steep. but when you reach down, you will be greeted by a beautiful beach, green lush and blue green water with a pristine sands.Around the area, you can find stores renting out surfing boards, and even some foods and drinks for snacks. Same as Dreamland Beach , the waves here is also not suitable for beginners but the shores is great for family and kids.Good for sunbathing, picnic and relaxing. The entrance fee here is only 10K IDR.

Kota Kinabalu is the capital of Malaysia’s Sabah State in the northern part of the island of Borneo. Unlike Kuala Lumpur or known as KL that is a very busy city, Kota Kinabalu or known as KK is a very laid back city partly surrounded by rainforest. Its known for the bustling markets, mosque, waterfront and beaches. Its also the gateway of the Kinabalu national park and the place where you will find the majestic 4095 meter high Mt. Kinabalu.
After a long bus travel from Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. We arrived in this very calm and nice city around 5:10pm. It was raining that time and good thing is that i booked a hotel that is very near to the bus station.
Another option to travel to Kota Kinabalu from Brunei is via Plane which will take only 40 minutes but yes its more expensive. Or via bus, ferry and another ferry that all in all it will take about 6-7 hours of travel, but if you are prone to sea sick i don’t recommend you to take ferry ride.
Lastly is by taking car, bus and train but that’s quite tiring as u need also to change time to time.
So i can recommend either Plane travel or via Bus.
After walking around 2 mins i easily found and located the Hotel i booked for 3 nights.
Hotel Traveler. It was strategically located in the city area which is almost walking distance to almost everything. The Hotel is near to food establishments, 5 mins walking distance to Centerpoint Mall, 5 Mins walking distance to Gaya street market, 5 mins to night market, 10 mins walk to Sabah Suria mall. and lots of food establishment around the area.
Our first night was spent through walking around the Centerpoint Mall ,Money exchange, Grocery for our snacks and some Pasalubongs back home and dinner. It was such a very long day indeed.
Kinabalu Park and Poring Hot spring Tour. This was booked through Klook.
We started our day early as the pick up time was scheduled at 7:30am. The agency picked us up on time. The tour guide named Clement was a nice jolly and funny guide. the Travel time to Nabalu town is about 1.5 hrs
First Stop – Nabalu Town – It was a small town with lots of local sellers of fruits and even souvenirs. This place is where you can have a good view of Mt. Kinabalu. Also here you can have the chance to help local peoples by buying fruits especially their durian and mangosteen. Nice place to check out the Mt kinabalu if its not cloudy and less crowd. We Stayed here for about 45mins.
some kind of souvenirs
2nd Stop – Desa Farm – About 30 mins of travel we arrived in the Desa Farm but we need to get down from the bus and take another short ride through smaller van. The Place is very nice, cool and green. Here you have the chance to taste the Gelato they are selling for about 68 pesos each cup. Its worth it, taste very nice as i love yogurt i really appreciate that. They are also selling different flavours of yogurt and even cheese. I bought one small cup of Strawberry yogurt and Toma Cheese for about 140 pesos. Aside from taking photos , you can also see the cows and even feed them for only 15 pesos per bunch of grass.Again i can say it would be better if you will visit the farm on weekdays than saturday and sunday as it gets very crowded. The Experience is great i enjoyed.
Breaktime – 12nn. We arrived in the Sabah Poring . We had lunch with different variety , meat , and veggies and fruits. Good lunch and i enjoyed.
3rd Stop – Poring Hot Spring – The poring hot spring is interesting as its a natural Hot spring which is very beneficial to our body but, again it was saturday and it was sooooo crowded. as in the pool is full of local people enjoying their weekend with family. We just take a look and continue walking to our next destination.
4th Stop- Canopy Walk -This is the highlights of our tour. I liked walking, trekking and hiking so i enjoyed this little trek up to the canopy. The management allows only 1 camera per group to use when you are inside the park especially in the canopy walk hanging bridge. The rate per camera is 68 pesos per camera. They have 4 Hanging bridge and the highest was the third one. It was a bot scary when you are not used to that kind and you are afraid of heights, but it was really safe.
5th Stop – Kinabalu Heritage Site – After an hour trip and taking nap in the bus we arrived in the last stop of our adventure. The Heritage Site where is used to be the Jump off area to those who wanted to do the Mt. Kinabalu Hiking. Those who wanted to do the hiking needs to have a license and approval from the office. In our case we just went there to see the view and take some photos around. It was so cold in that area and very relaxing. It would be nice to stay a night or 2 in the hotel and enjoy the sunrise or sunset. It was nice side trip though.
Time to go back home and we are ready for the 2 hrs journey back to hotel. Almost all guest are tired and just sleeping in the entire trip. I was just watching movie in the bus. Kind of making everyone dizzy as the road is zigzag and if u are not into that then you will have a problem as most of the travel time is passing by to the zigzag mountain.
It was Sunday and i did not plan much to do.
9:am – My Plan is just to visit the Gaya Sunday Street Market which is 5 mins walk from the Hotel we are staying. It was very hot outside even if its still early so i suggest that if you want to visit Gaya Market better do it earlier. The Street Market is quite interesting as they have almost everything i can say its like a Divisoria type. Mostly they are selling stuffs like clothes, souvenir items, food, milk teas, fruits, silks, soaps, seeds , bags, cookies and some rice cakes, shades, etc.
I had my breakfast in this street market i got a cake one is cookies n cream and the other one is purple yam cake for only 50 pesos each and fresh pineapple shake for 170. I love the concept of pineapple shake very fresh and refreshing no sugar no milk just pineapple and they shake it inside the pineapple it self. Awesome breakfast and lots of shopping
Lunch time. We headed to the Imago Mall and we had our lunch at Lucy’s Kitchen. Price are reasonable and food is tasty ranges from 10 MYR to 20 MYR. We roam around the mall for another 30 mins and then we went out to visit the Sabah State Museum.
About 3:30 pm we headed to the Sabah Museum via Grab for about 10 MYR so just 2 MYR each.
15 minutes travel time is very cheap for the fare. The entrance fee for the museum is 15 MYR for non Malay residents and you have access to see and visit the Mari Mari Cultural Village just right outside the Museum. We have only 1 hr left to check out the museum and we did it fast and dropped by to the the cultural village for 10 mins. Such a nice quick tour for us.
5:00pm we walked about 1.5KM to check out the Masjid Negara State Mosque. No entrance fee , we just took some photos and stayed there for 10 mins or so and i booked grab going to the Marlin Statue.
5:30pm Just right on time . Sunset is amazing in the waterfront. i got the chance to see the last seconds before the sun hide behind the mountain. Such a nice timing. We also did photo ops to the famous I love KK sign.
6.00pm. We walked around the night market and checked out what they offer. Mosly grilled foods and fresh seafoods that you will ask them to cook for you. Price varies depending on what type of food you eat.
7:00pm. Back to hotel. We had a dinner downstairs and rest then lights off. Such a tiring day.
Day 4 – Solo Travel Time
Sapi and Manukan Island tour. I booked this tour c/o Klook again. The Klook Agent picked me up in the hotel lobby around 8:45am and then picked up other 4 people from other hotels. 9:00am Waiting in the Jesselton Point for the boarding in the ferry.
1st Stop – Manukan Island. This is more laidback Island and not that crowded if your looking for a place that you can relax and away from much crowd just go to the far left side of the beach, the right side is for guest checked in in their hotel. The beach here is bluish green and child friendly. There are lots of fishes swimming around even in the swallow part of the beach. we stayed only for 1.5 hr but i really enjoyed. I would love to stay here for the entire day.
2nd Stop –Sapi Island. The island for usual stop over for lunch. The water here is really really nice as in nicer than Manukan Island but the downside here is that it gets very crowded. Lots of tourist around so if you want to relax its not really nice place or maybe i was just there in the wrong time. But i can say its really beautiful island. The lunch they served exceeded my expectation plus the filipino tour guide is very accommodating and she even made sure that i get enough food. It was fun experience.
im so hungry no breakfast
3:30pm. Back to Hotel. Washed up and prepare for my next destination.
4.30pm. Took Grab to the Kota Kinabalu State Mosque. About 13 MYR fare for 20 mins travel.I payed 10 MYR for entrance and Muslim Clothes to enter the mosque. It was solemn and very nice mosque. I love the mosque in the middle of the water. They call it Floating Mosque too. I had a chance to see the inside of the mosque took some photos and observe. Nice place to visit.
5:15pm. Took Grab to the Signal Hill Observatory. About 9 MYR for 15 mins ride. I read some reviews about this place and i want to see it to my own eyes. I wanted to see the entire Kota Kinabalu. Truly right. Nice view of the city. it would be amazing if you will catch the sunset here, but unfortunately i went there after the rain. I advise that going back to city, is to take the stairs going down its about 250m and its easier to go down than to go up so good exercise.
6:00pm. I go down the stairs inside the mini jungle and head to the Sabah Suria Mall to buy some stuff and souvenirs its another big mall in KK aside from the Imago Mall.
7:00pm. Had Dinner and a little walk in the street. Go Back to the Hotel and pack up for my flight at 2:00am. Chill and relax then head to the Kota Kinabalu International Airport.
Bye Bye Kota Kinabalu. Thanks for the memories and experience!

Brunei – Abode of Peacehttp://wanderingron.com/brunei-abode-of-peace/
Traveling from one country to another is always interesting stuff to do for me specially traveling via land. Since i booked a one way flight ticket to Brunei i thought of checking out the nearby country which is Malaysia , i wanted to see Kota Kinabalu and explore the beauty of it.
Crossing Kota Kinabalu from Brunei is not that complicated. You have options like:
1.Flying from Bandar Seri Begawan to Kota Kinabalu – travel time is about 40 mins
2.A little bit of bus ride to the ferry terminal and ferry ride from Muara to Labuan and Labuan to Kota Kinabalu – travel time is around 6 hrs
3. Traveling via car, bus and train which will take about 6 hrs also.
4.Traveling by bus from Bandar Seri Begawan up to Kota Kinabalu which will take roughly 8-9 hrs depends on the traffic.
I took the Traveling by bus all the way to Kota Kinabalu. For me it was the most fun part of traveling and sight seeing plus collecting 8 Stamps from border to border. So the easiest way and hasslefree booking advance seat is to through www.easybook.com , i booked 2 weeks before my intended travel and it cost about 1400 pesos per way. I advice to my fellow traveler to book bus seat ahead of time even before entering Brunei as they ask for the ticket on how you will exit their country. Better safe and less question when you have everything in advance.
Sapitang Bus operates once a day at 8:00am. They are situated in front of the Water Village Park just in the center of Bandar Seri Begawan. You need to be on time and be there atleast 15 minutes before the departure time as they will check your ticket and your passport. Around 8:15am we started our journey with more or less 20 people in the bus.
boarding time i arrived 15 mins earlier than the departure time

Brunei – Abode of Peace http://wanderingron.com/brunei-abode-of-peace/
Brunei is a tiny nation on the island of Borneo, in 2 distinct sections surrounded by Malaysia and the South China Sea. It’s known for its beaches and biodiverse rainforest, much of it protected within reserves. The capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, is home to the opulent Jame’Asr Hassanil Bolkiah mosque and its 29 golden domes. The capital’s massive Istana Nurul Iman palace is the residence of Brunei’s ruling sultan.
Coming from the Philippines it was easy as it will just take around 2 Hrs and 20 mins fly time. I flew through Cebu Pacific and the usual flight time is at 8:45pm to 11:05pm.
Day 0 – August 21,2018
Arriving at the Bandar Seri Begawan Airport. I fall in line to the que for the entry stamps and Immigration Biometrics. After clearing the Immigration, that’s about 11:50pm i roam around the airport and i just saw some Fast foods in the area , Wow they have Jollibee and Burger King Hahaha. They also have the Famous Royce Chocolate Store but since that’s late night they are already closed, am so sad.
Bandar Seri Begawan don’t Have that much Taxis at night even in the morning and if ever they have it would be so expensive. I can recommend you to book directly to the hotel you are staying to, or to download DART apps in your mobile phone as it would be helpful in your journey to Brunei. In my case, I booked advance to my host, that’s included in the package. I actually booked everything to my host from pick up from airport, tour in the city, and even in Empire Hotel, and also drop off to Bus Station.
The room in booked through Airbnb is not that far from the airport, Its about 10 minutes drive. The room they are renting is a simple room for family group of 5 and group of 3. My group is 5 people and we got the 2 double bed and 1 airbed with sharing bathroom. The room is well cleaned and with Aircon. Clean and comfortable bed and blanket. After checking in, i just fall asleep easily.
Day 1- August 22,2018
Woke up early morning to prepare for the City Tour. We were greeted with a smile. The family of the Host are in the living room and welcomed my group. Eirene also prepared a delicious breakfast for us, Noodles and bread and coffee to start our day right!
Bandar Seri Begawan , in this month – August is a very hot month so Eirene advised us to wear comfortable clothes and shoes and bring water as it will very humid outside.
8.30am We started moving and the host Eirene and James together with their kids especially Becca the cute little girl gave us a ride to the center to drop us at Omar Ali Saiffudin Mosque. This Mosque is considered to be one of the most beautiful mosque in the Asia Pacific. This place is for worship but most people see it as an attraction especially for us tourist. We only did taking photos are we are not allowed to enter the Mosque. Around the mosque area there was a pagoda which adds to the beauty of the entire place. We really enjoyed our 1.5 hrs stay in this place. Truly worth the visit.
10:30am We went to the Yayasan Mall as it was so hot outside and we wanted to relax a little and get something to eat. It was Holiday that time Aug.22 as they celebrate Eid Adha. No much people around and not all stores are open. We had a sit into the food court and ordered in a Filipino Booth. we don’t have that much choice, We roam around the mall and relaxed till late afternoon. We went outside to get some souvenirs outside the building in front of the water village. Around 4:00pm we went to the Brunei History Center and Brunei Museum but then again since it was Holiday it was closed or maybe we are late? We are not sure as no one is around in the area.We only took some photos and we walked around and headed to the water village area.Seems that it will rain that time as we can see thunderstorms and we feel it through the breezy air. We just had a glance of the water village but we didn’t try to take the boat ride to the other side of the village.
7:00pm. We went to the Night Market near the Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque and we bought some food for dinner. We bought Nasi katok and some noodles to go for about 1 BND each (38.50 pesos)
8:00pm. We went to the pick up area . Burger king with free wifi. I bough some Double Fish Burger with fries and drinks for 7 BND( 269 pesos). James picked us up around 8.30 pm and went home, had dinner, and go to room and we rested . It was a very long day indeed.
Day 2- August 23,2018
Woke up early again for our busy yet exciting day to happen. Went down to take our special breakfast cooked by Eirene . Wow special fried rice with sausage. Yummy!!! We all loved the food shes serving! Awesome!
8.45am.James and Eireen drove us to the Empire Hotel Club. We advised them to pick us up at 1:00pm.From the Home till the Hotel took us about 30 Minutes drive as it was raining hard that time. We are all praying that the rain stop as we wanted to enjoy walking around the beach and the resort. Thank God when we arrived the rain stopped.
Empire Hotel and Country Club – It was situated by the South China Sea. It is one of the finest golf and spa resort in the Asia Pacific. This hotel is one of the most expensive and luxurious resort in the country and we are very lucky to experience and visit this beautiful place. Take note the entrance to see this hotel is free.you can roam around the hotel area, and the beach area, and restaurants, you just cant walk around the residential area and swim in the pool unless you are willing to pay.We only wanted to check out this place , have a look, relax and chill. You can bring food put in your bag and sit around the bench near the cabana in the beach area or you can just order in their restaurants.
i like this walking area to the beach
Some of the Hotels Photo
1.15pm. Eirene and James pick us up and drove us to the Gadong area. They dropped us at The Mall. We had our lunch in the Food Court again and we had a nice lunch there, i ordered Nasi Sotong (squid) and fresh cucumber juice for 5BND (192 pesos) and 3BND (115 pesos).
We roam around the area and did some shopping till about 4:00pm.We saw a souvenir shop just right outside the Mall, the seller was an indian man and he accept php as payment. 10BND = 400 pesos that time.
4:30pm. We walked towards the Gadong Night Market , oh lah lah. I love this place as you can see lots of choices , if you are street food lover you will appreciate everything they sell from fruits, veggies, milk teas, grilled chicken, fish and other seafood, noodles, satays, rice cakes, and a lot more. I really enjoyed this night market and you can see people from different walks of life eating here. Surely a must to visit when you are in Brunei.
rice puddings and rice cake
6:30pm. We walked to McDonalds near the Mall as this is the designated pickup place. James pick us up and dropped us to Jame Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque. Wow it was magical. It was one of the two national mosque as the other one was the Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque. This Mosque can accommodate 5000 worshiper in the same time and this makes as the Largest Mosque in the country. The mosque has 29 golden domes and 4 minarets with the height of 190ft. It was truly amazing to visit this mosque at night and the Omar Ali Saifuddin is gorgeous in the morning.
8:00pm . Along the way going back to our home. We dropped by to see the official residence of the sultan of Brunei. The Istana Nurul Iman. It was night time so i can only see the gate and the big Palace inside. No tourist are allowed to go inside the palace, but there is an exemption like when its the King’s Birthday. They said that tourist and locals are allowed to see the King and the Queen. Wow we could be so lucky if we are there on the King’s Birthday. Maybe one day.
Day 3 – August 24,2018
Woke up super early for our departure and drop off to the Sapitang Bus Station. We are heading to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Malaysia. We had our daily breakfast. This time it was a Mee Hoon Noodles w Fish Cake. Oh soo yummy, again we enjoyed our last breakfast in Lau’s Home. Now its Time to say bye to this lovely family. James , Eirene, Becca and the baby boy.
They drove us to the Sapital Bus Stop in the center, in front of the Kampong Ayer water village park. We are 15 minutes earlier to the pick up time and we have time to relax get some water and something to eat to our long journey to Sabah Malaysia.
8:30am. We started our journey. Bye Bye Bandar Seri Begawan. Bye Bye Lau’s Family. Bye Bye Brunei. Thank you for the memories.
Things to remember:
They don’t accept USD. Better change your money to SGD or BND.
Book tour and transport to your hotel or Airbnb host.
Its very hot in Brunei, bring very light and comfortable clothes.
Its a muslim country, please respect and don’t wear something revealing.
Try to eat like a local. Enjoy the night markets too.

A day away from bustling city life is really a good break for me. So i decided to do this day tour after reading some blogs and i got an idea where to go that’s not so far from Manila and budget friendly. I choose Valentino Resort and Spa.
Valentino Resort and Spa is just about 2 hrs away from Manila if you are coming from Alabang. This is locate right in San Jose, Batangas that offers one of a kind relaxation , peace and fun from all the amenities they have. You can have a glimpse of Mt Maculot on the way to the resort. If you are looking for a nature inspired resort with a nice pool and jacuzzi this is a perfect place for you.
Getting To Valentino Resort and Spa
Travelling from Manila is not that hard. I started from Sucat and took a bus to Alabang South Station, and from there i just hopped in to Dela Rosa Bus going to Batangas just tell the conductor to drop you in Crossing. (they will drop you in front of Jollibee crossing). You can also take bus going to Lemery and they will drop you near the Resort. In my case i went down to Jollibee crossing and took a jeepney going to Lemery.Just tell the driver to drop you in Valentino and they know it. You will see a big signage so you wont be lost. There are some trike that offers to driver for you for 25 pesos but you can just walk around for 5 minutes for 300 meters only if you don’t have big bags and luggage you can just walk.
9 Jeep to Sucat
10 Bus to Alabang
104 Bus from Alabang to Crossing Lipa
9 Jeep to Valentino Resort
132.00 pesos TOTAL FARE one way x 2 = 264 back and fourth
Upon arrival to the resort the guard will assist you to the Information area. You will be asked if you have a reservation. I did a day before my arrival. They will ask you if you have some cooked food as they have a corkage for a minimal amount.I only got some burger and chips and water with me and they don’t charge you for that. I payed for the entrance fee and you need to get a cabana its a must as no other place for you to put your belongings.
After paying there’s a guy that guided me to the cabana area, he asked me to ride the golf cart.. aww cute. for like 1 minute ride haha.
So i arrived in the area where i can rest , place my belongings and chill. All cabanas are located in the pool area. My cabana is located in the Main pool with Jacuzzi.
It was early morning and it was so peaceful, quite and good opportunity to take photos.
No one is around the resort when i arrived probably they are sleeping still. There’s no day tour guest also that time so the whole resort is mine for sometime. I roam around and wander with the amazing surroundings this place offers. Lots of trees, flowers, butterflies, birds singing. Wow its really a good getaway!
I was walking around and i saw this stairs and climb up to see whats up there. Wow there’s a hanging bridge its on the 4th or 5th floor. I love this hanging bridge and you can look around and see the pool downstairs, Of course i wouldn’t pass the opportunity to take a nice hanging bridge photo.
I went to the other side to see the other 2 pool. It was very calm and quite too, there’s a small kiddie playground and some big cabanas. It was also nice to take photos here. the pool is good for kids too as its shallow. The weather that day is not really nice a little gloomy and eventually the rain poured hard. But i was able to take photos, dipped in the water, enjoyed the jacuzzi, relaxed in the cabanas , so when its raining i was just sitting and relaxing and eating some of my brought in snacks and watch the rain while laying in my cabanas ☺ it was such a nice day for me.
Around 2 pm i started packing up. I washed up in the shared bathroom in the middle of the trees. since no one is around i feel scared hahaha..i ended up calling a friend while am taking a shower just to feel and imagine am not alone. i know that’s crazy but yes i feel scared that time hahaha.. i am used to be alone but not in the middle of nature, taking shower alone with lots of shower room in the area, ok i took shower and i didn’t close the door!
So around 2.30pm i checked out with the good memories and experience to this resort and walk back to the jeepney station.this time i took jeep going to Sm Lipa and from Sm Lipa i took bus going back to south station Alabang And Jeep to Sucat and Sucat to Sm BF . And Home sweet home.

Have fun and enjoy!!
Phú Quốc is a Vietnamese island off the coast of Cambodia in the Gulf of Thailand. It’s known for white-sand beaches and resorts, most of which are along the palm-lined southwest coast. More than half of the island is part of Phú Quốc National Park, which features mountains, dense tropical jungle, hiking trails and wildlife. Duong Dong is the largest town, with day and night markets selling crafts, produce and fish.
While most of us here in the Philippines never heard of this Island,I got an interest exploring this place when i saw photos in the internet and since am traveling to Ho Chi Minh i told my self why not give it a try. So after i booked my round trip ticket MNL- HCMC-MNL, i researched how to go to Phú Quốc Island and so on and so fourth and ended up booking a back and fourth plane ticket to Phú Quốc and looking up for accommodation. There are lots of places to stay there and i got a nice gem in the heart of this tiny Island.
From Ho Chi Minh City i travelled to Tan Son Nhat Airport From District 1 through Grab bike which is mostly used in the city. Checked in to Jetstar Asia and flew for less than an hour trip. It was a very short ride good thing is the weather if perfect and calm. Fare is 2,850 pesos back and fourth HCMC.
Airport Arrival Hall
Upon Arrival to the Island i was amazed how quite it was, its just a very small airport surrounded of natures beauty, lush of greens and valley. Be wary to the Taxi operators in the airport as as soon as they know that you are a tourist they try to rip you off. Mai Linh is a recommended taxi operator and i looked for this taxi when i arrived. So the Price ranges depends on where your accommodation is located. At my end i got a hotel in the center of Duong Dong and the fare is about 100 pesos.
Checking In at the hotel. I booked hotel named The Naked Table for 4days and 3 nights to explore the wonders of this island. The Hotel is owned by an Indian guy who is very accommodating as well as his wifey. The place is amazing, small resort but i felt very good in this place. Big bed with a big bathroom as in big, with television, and mini fridge.Glass door and window ohh i love this! Mini garden is cute and also they have an awesome pool! And ofcourse they have free breakfast.☺☺☺ Accommodation for the duration of my stay is about 4200 pesos for budget double room.
Budget Double Room with a huge bed
Bathroom good for 4 pax hahaa
Since i arrived late afternoon i just checked in,took photos of the place, rest and took nap, i went out at night (can walk around and its safe even at night) to get my dinner and i saw a local restaurant and dined there. Nice food fair price and tried local beer. The resto name is Au Lac. Dinner cost about 500 pesos as i ate lots as in lots.☺☺
seafood fried rice
local made beer
butter and garlic clams
Getting around the Island
On my Second day, Tour around the island i started early, got my free breakfast offered by the hotel and proceed to my tour this is actually free as i just hopped in to motor ride with fellow traveler , so yes i saved money for this one day tour! i Just shared 300 pesos for the motorcycle rent as i don’t know how to use motor so better like this am just a passenger .
breakfast for day 1 and 2
native indian breakfast for day 3
1st stop is the Chua Phap Quang Temple. I just took photo and bought Ban Mi and Passion fruit juice for 90 pesos.
pulled pork ban mi
passion fruit juice
Then we proceed to Starfish Island. Its free and no entrance. This island has a potential to be a good tourist destination if the people in this area protect and take care of this place. Its facing one of Cambodia’s Island.Literally there’s lots of starfish in the shore, but the place is quite dirty its kinda secluded and u have to get wet as you will cross a small river like place to reach this place but since there are people living around the area, the waste and the garbage are around and kinda stinky. To be fair the it is white sand nice white sand. Hopefully people here will take care of this place i feel pity about this little gem.
While driving around the area , we saw a street food and had a stop over for our snack.I got a rice pancake as they call it which is very interesting to me, its a rice paper with some meat and spices and herbs grilled in a small grilling place, it taste good and little spicy which i enjoyed so i ordered one more each rice pancake cost 22 pesos and i got this ice crumbled for 22 pesos only so i got my lunch for 66 pesos.
We also passed by the Pepper Farm and had a quick look, and took some photo and sight seeing .No entrance fee here.
pepper in the street
After a long drive, we stopped over again to get late lunch around Duong Dong area and saw this korean Restaurant.
Got steamed crab, rice and a lime juice for 274 pesos. I asked to taste the food ordered by fellow traveller and wow that’s just amazing.I also had a sip of Vietnamese Beer named Saigon. Taste ok for me.
yummy i dunno the name of this dish
healthy lemon juice
Last Stop for this day is the Long Beach. Free of charge and you can enjoy the amazing sunset in this long public beach. There are some resorts around the area but i went to the last part of the beach near the pearl farm. The place is not that nice but good enough to watch the sunset and enjoy the beach. Its interesting that the color of the sand is orange brown. Stayed for an hour before heading back to the hotel.
awesome brown orange sand
sunset at long beach
Dinner time☺Went again with the fellow traveller as we agreed to eat together and share food and expenses. We went to this famous restaurant named Oc Dau Quan as lots of people are waiting their turn to have a table and seat to enjoy the food they serve, luckily we didn’t wait long as when we arrived there is one table available for 2. I really enjoyed the dinner in this place , aside from the food is sooo tasty its quite affordable and worth the price. We got seafood fried rice, grilled squid, grilled shrimp, baked scallops which is my favorite and vietnam 7up.We shared for the bill and payed 308 pesos for me.
food trippin again
After dinner , we had a quick sight seeing in the night market , a place where you can buy different stuff such as souvenirs, clothes, coffees, ref magnets and some restaurants around. i just had a quick walk and i got a Phu Quoc Island fridge magnet for me 285 pesos for 5 pcs. Then travel back to hotel.
phu quoc night market
3rd day. I started early had my free breakfast and waited for the pick up for my South Phu Quoc island adventure i booked through klook for 780 pesos. The tour includes sightseeing and entrance to Phu Quoc Pearls, and Ferry tour with snorkelling ,and lastly trip to Bai Sao beach and lunch on board.
Phu Quoc Pearl allows us to watch and see how to get the pearl inside the shell, stroll in the pearl store and do shopping if you are interested, i just bought some key chains worth 245 pesos for 7 pcs. Then we proceed to the ferry terminal to bring us to the 2 snorkelling sites, we travelled for like 30 mins to arrived in the ferry station, then another 30 mins travel to the snorkelling site #1. I went to get snorkelling gear and tried to snorkel unfortunately i haven’t seen anything interesting in this first island, after few minutes i went back to boat and relax. They served lunch on board which is good enough i shared food with different people from different places on earth☺. after having lunch we proceed to the next snorkelling site , the view is nice but i didn’t go to snorkel i just watch people and took photo and relax again. 2pm we packed up and get ready to go to Bai Sao beach.
lunch with strangers hahaaa
i don’t wanna snorkel anymore i just relax and lay here
Bai Sao Beach. Is a white powdery sand beach which they said to be post card perfect as its really beautiful. it is located 25 km from Duong Dong. It is relaxed, unspoiled and amazing place in the island the best beach they said the island can offer. This is the best place i visited in the entire Island. Since i am beach love,I fell in love with the beauty of the beach, the sand, the sky, and everything. It is not crowded when we visited and i enjoyed really my stay. Had my native snack in the beach i don’t know how they call it but its similar to Philippines sticky rice called kareoka. Its only 20 pesos.
the bai sao beach
super fine prestine white sand
my snacks for the day
After the tiring day i just stayed in the hotel dipped to the pool and i fell asleep and forgot to have my dinner. It was a very productive and enjoyable day indeed.

Last day. Woke up around 9 am, and had my breakfast packed up my bags and prepare travelling back to HCMC. I took Taxi for 120 pesos and here i am saying goodbye to a beautiful place Phu Quoc Island. It was such an awesome short vacation here. I definitely enjoyed the island.
